Well, it is over for another year!. The Ballan Autumn Festival partied all day yesterday to the theme of Alice in Wonderland. Being tough country people here a few little storms and some flying marquees didn’t stop us, but luckily the weather cooperated during the parade and subsequent activities. Special guests included our Federal Member for Ballarat Catherine King MP who again volunteered her time to judge the parade.
There were about 100 stalls, beautifully decorated cakes and multiple sittings of the Mad Hatters Tea Party in the Mechanics Institute, the wood chop in front of Hudson’s, and a multitude of performers on the stage in the IGA car park. The vibrant, sparkly and very witty drag queens Philmah Bocks and Art Simone were magnificently dressed as the Queen of Hearts and Alice.
The highlight was of course the Autumn Festival Parade which again was a great success. Many Thanks to the amazing Ballan Autumn Festival Committee for allowing me to work with them again, can’t wait for next year with the theme of Harry Potter!
