Forbes
We attended an Austins over Australia rally in Forbes in 2011 and always hoped to come back to this friendly little town. It is RV friendly and has a great free camp site located on the river and close to shops and walks. We managed to outrun the dirty weather down south and other than a few showers and a thunderstorm our stay was quite pleasant.
Tried to fire up the diesel heater in the caravan to no avail, and inspection the next morning revealed that the air inlet was full of some sort of insects. Removing the blockage did result in the heater firing up but the air inlet hose had disintegrated and my running repairs failed pretty quickly. We seem to have had unusual technical problems this trip, the heater played up, the fridge was a pain to light and the portaloo water pump broke. Hopefully that will be the end of it.
Again we would not have minded staying longer and gone to the famous camel races on Good Friday but we had used up our time limit at Forbes and I did not want to be caught out over Easter so we headed off to Carcoar Dam.
